LA Dunn.

LA Dunn is a plant-based advocate who wants to encourage more people to add more plants to their plates. In 2017, she suffered greatly from aches and pains. A visit to a rheumatologist revealed that inflammation was the likely cause of all the drama. LA found that many of the foods that she enjoyed were at the center of the problem. Determined to feel better, she began eating mostly plants and moved away from animal products. She leaned into research and took courses in whole foods plant-based nutrition. The result? Less pain and more energy.

Understanding that food and knowledge were great weapons in the war against diabetes, heart disease, obesity, hypertension, and of course, inflammation, Black Girls Eat was created to build a community for the plant-based curious. LA is your homegirl walking through the supermarket with you. She’s the friend willing to try new things with you. Through coaching, workshops, and cooking demonstrations, LA helps Black Women and families make healthier food choices. She wants everyone to know that choosing mostly plants can actually expand your food vocabulary and that remixing your plate can take you to new and exciting places.

The Bronx native is happy to be an ambassador for plant-based life and partners with influencers and brands who care about empowering others to make positive changes in their life. Finding new ways to connect with people who want to live differently is always on her mind so the Black Girls Eat experience now includes online classes, a retail shop, and the Black Girls Eat Podcast. LA is also a contributing editor @thebeet and @theproducemoms. The goal of every blog, social media post, class, or workshop is to help people eat well, feel well, and live well.
